January 2007 - Band Social Events

Sarah has asked me to pass on her thanks to all members of the band who turned up to celebrate her birthday between Xmas and the New Year. A superb time was had in a local bar and then at a Thai restaraunt. The next 'social' night will be on Friday 12th January to celebrate the birthdays of three other band members - me!, Nick and Jackie. A pub meal has been booked at the 'Legs of Man' public house in SmallWood (between Congleton and Crewe) at 8pm. Once again all band members and friends are welcome. A map of the location can be foundHERE

December 2006 - Sarah's Birthday Party

We will meet for Sarah's birthday party on Thursday 28th Dec at Yates's on the Ironmarket in Newcastle at 7.30 ish and then onto an Indian Restaurant aftwerwards at approx 8.00pm. All are welcome. The money raised at Shelton last week and on Xmas Eve (approx £120) will be put towards the bill (or pay it completely if only a few turn up!!)

December 2006 - A Disaster for the band !!!

The season of goodwill doesn't seemed to have reached Staffordshire yet! After playing our annual community carol concert at St Peters Church in Congleton, all the bands music, stand banners, spare jackets and 2 Sovereign cornets were placed in the back of a players car to be returned to the bandroom the following day. Later that evening the car was broken into whilst in a restaurant car-park and the cornets, banners, jackets and some music stolen. 2 'good samaritans' found the banners, jackets and some music the following day, but the overnight rain had destroyed the jackets and most of the music. The cornets are still missing!

December 2006 - Ashley Taylor - 3rd in Solo Contest

Well done to Ashley Taylor, our young 1st Trombone player. He entered his first ever solo contest on Saturday 16th and came 3rd. The contest was organised by the Lions organisation adn saw players from all 3 of the Lions bands take part..

Congratulations to Sarah Lorenz, Richard Yorke, Mike McCann and David Rigdon who played superbly well at the British Open Solo and Quartet Championships held in Tameside.
